How to Create an Email Marketing Opt-in Page That Delivers

By Caroline • April 3rd, 2010

If you’re an online business, your opt-in page is an essential tool in your marketing arsenal. If its done right, it can be your best way to to generate new leads. Here are some important tips  to help ensure that you get the most results from  your opt-in page and that its as effective as possible in generating leads.

Create a Persuasive Headline

Bear in mind that web visitors have short attention spans and will leave in just a few seconds if you don’t grab their attention.  So your headline has to been powerful enough to catch their attention and keep it long enough for them to view the rest of your content.

Add Video

Videos are becoming more and more popular in online marketing as is so much easier to demonstrate visually rather than just sharing the information verbally.  Create a video demonstration of   of your products and services and show it at the top of the screen in a place where visitors will feel compelled to watch it right away.

Use Simple Bullet Points

Even if you’ve using video, its still smart to offer important features and benefits in text as well.  Just keep it simple and easy to read.  If its too long, they won’t read it, and bullet points are a great way to summarize features and benefits in a clear and easy to ready manner.

Include Testimonials

If you don’t have good testimonials right now that you can use, consider sending out free packages to relevant, influential people in your niche and asking them for a review. When you have a few ready to go, choose those that reaffirm the benefits you presented in your bullet points.  Put them up on your site with quotes and the name of the reviewer.  If possible, also include a small bio of the reviewer (i.e. Real Estate Agent, XYZ Company) that will help your visitors identify with your reviewers and realize how they might benefit as well.

Keep Your Subscription Form As Simple As Possible

Try to keep your subscription to just form as simple as your visitor’s name and email address, if possible.  People are quickly turned away when you ask for too much information.  Also, link your subscription form to an auto-responder service so that everyone who registers via your opt-in page will automatically receive a welcome email.

These tips are simple tricks but have proven to be a very important part of building an effective opt-in page. Employ them and watch how quickly and easily you can generate leads.
